To become an apprentice, you need to:

  1. Be aged 16 or above when you begin the apprenticeship
  2. Be currently living in England
  3. Meet the entry requirements for the chosen apprenticeship programme

Benefits of an apprenticeship

Earn while you learn

Apprenticeships allow you to earn a salary while you learn so you can support yourself financially while gaining qualifications.

Gain industry experience

As an apprentice you will spend 80% of your time within the workplace, gaining real-world experience under the guidance of industry professionals.

Support at every step

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll be supported by experienced mentors, tutors and workplace supervisors who will guide your development and help you succeed.

How apprenticeships work

Apprenticeships offer a unique blend of practical experience and classroom learning, giving you the best of both worlds.

80% work-based, 20% classroom.

Alongside your work-based training, you’ll attend classes and workshops on-campus on a part-time basis, either through day release or block learning. This is where you’ll build the theoretical knowledge needed to support your practical skills.
