Customer Service Specialist Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship

The main purpose of a customer service specialist is to be a professional for direct customer support within all sectors and organisation types. You are an advocate of Customer Service who acts as a referral point for dealing with more complex or technical customer requests, complaints, and queries. You are often an escalation point for complicated or ongoing customer problems. As an expert in your organisations products and/or services, you share knowledge with your wider team and colleagues. You gather and analyse data and customer information that influences change and improvements in service. Utilising both organisational and generic IT systems to carry out your role with an awareness of other digital technologies. This could be in many types of environment including contact centres, retail, webchat, service industry or any customer service point.

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.

Course Content

  • You will need to hold four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above plus GCSE English at grade C/4 or above OR a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship.

  • You will need to be at least 16 years of age.

  • You will need to find an employer willing to employ you as an apprentice. Please see our apprenticeship vacancies for the latest opportunities. Please be aware, individual employers will set their own entry requirements and selection criteria for their apprenticeship job role.

  • Practical observation with Q&A

  • A work-based project, supported by an interview

  • Professional discussion supported by portfolio evidence

You will be required to provide paper, writing materials, A4 ring binder file, extra wide dividers and clear plastic wallets.

Apprenticeship Standard

Upon completion you could progress onto further study relating to your role or apply for job roles including:

  • Customer Relationship Manager

  • Customer Service Co-ordinator

  • Customer Service Team Leader

Completion of this apprenticeship will lead to eligibility to join the Institute of Customer Service as an Individual member at Professional level. Should you choose to progress on a customer service career path, you may be eligible for further professional membership.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a  grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, our parent company, Barnsley College can help. Barnsley College offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
