Allergy Awareness for those Working in the Service Sector Level 2
This qualification will help students develop an understanding of allergies, their causes and what to do in the case of an allergic reaction.

This course is catered for those who already work in, or are planning to enter, the service sector.
By the end of the course, students will understand allergies, what causes them and know what to do in case of an allergic reaction.
- Allergens, allergies and intolerances:
- Understand food allergens, allergies and intolerances
- Methods for allergy diagnosis and treatment
- Methods for intolerance diagnosis and treatment
- Food labelling and packaging:
- The importance of food labelling
- Regulations for food labelling
- Packaging regulations
- Allergy awareness for those working in the service sector:
- The signs and effects of allergic reactions
- How to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction
- Performing first aid on those who have had a severe reaction
- Food storage, handling and preparation to reduce allergic reaction risk
Candidates will require the following equipment for distance learning:
- PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (a webcam is preferred but not essential)
- Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome)
- An email account for file sharing
