Those who have little or no experience using Adobe Photoshop, who need to modify and enhance images for use in websites, newsletters and other business documentation.
By the end of the course, you will be able to use the tools for selecting parts of an image, understand layers and apply layer effects. Additionally, you will be able to use painting tools and blending modes to create shading effects in an image.
Getting Started with Photoshop:
- Introducing Photoshop.
- The Photoshop interface.
- Working with panels and panel groups.
Creating and Saving Images:
- Creating, saving and opening images.
- Viewing, zooming and navigating images.
Working with Selections:
- Selection techniques and tools.
- Using the magic wand tool.
- Modifying areas and selection borders
Editing Images:
- Modifying image properties.
- Viewing actions in the history panel.
- Moving and copying selections.
- Cropping an image.
- Drawing with the pencil and brush tools.
- Cloning parts of an image.
- Stamping parts of an image.
Working with Colours:
- Understanding colour modes.
- Working with the colour panel and colour gamut.
- Applying colour using the paint bucket and eyedropper tool.
Transforming Images:
- Using the skew, distort, warp and perspective tools.
- Rotating an image.
- Scaling an image.
Modifying Photographs:
- Correcting photos using red eye, dodge and burn.
- Enhancing photos using sponge, sharpen, and smudge tools.
- Working with eraser tools.
Working with Layers:
- Creating layers and deleting layers.
- Linking and locking layers.
- Changing the layer order.
- Adding text with type layers.
- Protecting areas with a layer mask.
- Using quick mask mode.
Working with filters:
- Adding filter effects to images.
- Warming and blurring filters.
- Liquefying drawings.
Customising the Environment:
- Changing view options.
- Setting default preferences.
- Automating actions with the actions panel.
- Recording and editing actions.
This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.
Delegates must have the following equipment to attend this training remotely:
- PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential).
- Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
- An email account for file sharing.
Attendees must be proficient with a mouse and keyboard and be able to confidently work within a Windows environment - minimise, maximise, open and close.
