Those who have little or no experience using Adobe InDesign, who need to create and design documents for a variety of purposes.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, you will have gained a sound understanding of Adobe InDesign and will be able to easily publish multiple document types.

Course content

Getting Started with InDesign:

  • Exploring the InDesign interface.
  • Customising the interface.
  • Using the navigation controls.
  • Setting working preferences.
  • Creating a document.

Creating Documents:

  • Adding text and graphics.
  • Working with frames.
  • Using text wrapping.
  • Alternative layouts.
  • Content collection.

Working with Text:

  • Formatting characters and paragraphs.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists.
  • Creating and applying styles.
  • Text frame threading.
  • Proofing tools.

Manipulating Objects:

  • Applying colour, swatches and gradient effects.
  • Applying fills and strokes.
  • Arranging and aligning objects.
  • Working with layers.
  • Transforming objects.
  • Converting and duplicating shapes.

Working with Tables:

  • Creating a table.
  • Modifying table structure.
  • Formatting a table.
  • Creating table and cell styles.

Finalising Documents:

  • Checking documents for errors.
  • Printing a document.

Course requirements

This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.

Delegates must have the following equipment to attend this training remotely:

  • PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential).
  • Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
  • An email account for file sharing.

Attendees must be proficient with a mouse and keyboard and be able to confidently work within a Windows environment - minimise, maximise, open and close.
