This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like to join an existing team as a Carer within a Residential Care Home which has been awarded 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission. This position is in the village of Disley, near Lyme Park, in the Cheshire/High Peak area.


Purpose of the role

You will have the opportunity to gain an understanding and respect for the diverse personalities and lifestyles of each individual person who has chosen to make his or her home here. Due to the supportive environment that exists here, there are also Guests who choose to stay for a holiday or convalescence.

A Care Partner helps to provide the support that meets the expectations needs and preferences of each person. Examples of these could be related to:

  • Personal Care
  • Assistance with medication
  • Nutrition and diet
  • Support to remain independent
  • Access to health care
  • Emotional issues

Other important areas of support are linked to:

The role also includes:

  • Following and contributing to evolving personal care plans
  • Record keeping

  • Attending training and development sessions
  • Adhering to mandatory policies


Training to be provided:

As part of the apprenticeship the successful applicant will gain their intermediate NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, delivered entirely at the place of work, both on and off the job by Independent Training Services. The apprenticeship standard also includes functional skills Maths and English when needed.

Number of vacancies: 1

Training Wage: Minimum wage for age (from £4.35 an hour to £8.21 per hour) negotiable dependent on experience/individual.

Weekly hours: Minimum hours 30 hours per week (possible more when required) This will include some weekend hours, to be arranged to fit in with our existing rota, with different shifts between the hours of 7.30am and to 10.30pm.

  • Some experience would be beneficial but not essential

  • Be able to travel to the location easily. Disley is on a main bus and train route from Buxton or Stockport

Things to consider:

Care roles by nature can involve recurrent instances of bereavement for residents and their families. Care roles involve assisting residents with all elements of care which includes helping them with toileting needs, bathing and dressing. Care roles involve situations requiring empathy, sensitivity and tact. Care roles also can involve long periods of time standing, demanding shifts and working under pressure when needed.
