Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health Certificate Level 2

The Level 2 Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health Certificate will help you develop a detailed understanding of mental health conditions affecting children and young people.

You will study the legislation and guidance surrounding mental health, risk factors, and the impact on mental well-being. You will also learn how to support those facing mental health challenges.

Following this course, candidates will have an understanding of children and young people's mental health in context and an awareness of factors that may affect children and young people's mental health. They will also have a knowledge of children and young people's mental health concerns and will know how to support those with them. How society views mental health. Areas covered include:

  • Legislation in place to support children and young people's mental health.

  • Risk factors that affect children and young people.

  • Developmental changes in puberty.

  • Behaviours displayed by children and young people.

  • Mental health conditions.

  • The impact of mental health concerns on children and young people.

  • The importance of diagnosis.

  • Person-centred support.

  • - How to promote mental health wellbeing, services and treatment involved with children and young people.
