Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Diploma Level 3
The Level 3 Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Diploma will prepare you for a more specialised role in school administration, learning support, or management. You will build on your experience as a school support worker, developing the skills needed to take on greater responsibilities.
This qualification will equip you to enhance the learning environment and provide essential support to both students and staff.
The Diploma comprises the following units of study:
Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults (2 credits).
Support learning activities (4 credits).
Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people (2 credits).
Support assessment for learning (4 credits)
Additional areas of study:
Group A - Supporting learning.
Group B - English as an additional language.
Group C - Special educational needs.
Group D - Providing pastoral support.
Group E - Supporting the wider work of the school.
Group F - Working with colleagues.

If you are aged 24 or over and reside in South Yorkshire or aged 19 or over and reside in West Yorkshire, you may not have to pay for this course if:
- You do not already have a Level 3 qualification in this subject area OR
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the earnings threshold set by your local authority, which includes benefits (see below) OR
- You already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, below the earnings threshold set by your local authority (see below).
This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
Earnings Threshold
- If you live in the qualifying West Yorkshire region and earn below £25,000 a year, then you may not have to pay for this course.
- If you live in the qualifying South Yorkshire region and earn below £30,476 a year, then you may not have to pay for this course.
