Course Overview

Graded Exposure Therapy Workshop

This can be delivered as a stand-alone or a series of training workshops for support staff to address the area of Graded Exposure Therapy. The training will explore the application of this evidence-based treatment used to tackle avoidance of feared situations, activities or objects due to anxiety. It works through a process called habituation, a gradual reduction in the physical sensations of anxiety.

Course Content

Key themes to be addressed include an introduction to graded exposure and theory, legal implications and consent with regards to psychological interventions.

Part One will provide a solid understanding of Graded Exposure Therapy, as well as presenting tools and techniques for support workers to implement and allow for discussion/sharing of experience to take place looking at specific service users/examples.

Part Two will be a reflective session, to review how the support workers are able to implement the techniques, as well as an opportunity to consider alternative approaches, recap and consider next steps.

The course will provide evidence of learning with verified workbooks and completed care plan/action plan documentation will accompany the second session. A Certificate of Attendance will also be provided. All of which should provide good evidence to meet CQC requirements.
