Awareness of Mental Health Problems Certificate Level 2

The Level 2 in the Awareness of Mental Health Problems Certificate will raise your awareness of mental health and common mental health problems. You will gain an understanding of various conditions and develop the skills to effectively work with or interact with individuals experiencing these challenges. This course will provide you with the knowledge to support mental well-being in different settings.

  • Legal frameworks which ensure high quality care is provided

Understanding stress:

  • Stress and its causes

  • The effect stress can have on individuals and their daily life

  • Ways in which stress can be managed

Understanding anxiety:

  • Anxiety and its causes

  • How anxiety affects individuals and those around them

Understanding phobias:

  • The causes of phobias

  • How those with phobias can manage them

Understanding depression:

  • The causes and effects of depression on individuals

  • How depression affects those around them

  • How depression can be managed

Understanding post-natal depression:

  • What is meant by the term ‘postnatal depression

  • How postnatal depression affects women and others around them

Understanding bipolar disorder:

  • The causes and effects of bipolar disorder

  • Ways in which bipolar disorder can be managed

Understanding schizophrenia:

  • The causes of schizophrenia

  • The media’s representation of this condition

Understanding dementia:

  • What dementia is

  • How it affects an individual

  • Ways in which dementia can be managed

Understanding eating disorders:

  • In-depth knowledge of eating disorders

  • The causes of eating disorders

  • How they can affect the individual and others

Understanding attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD):

  • The causes of this condition

  • The effect it can have on an individual and others

Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):

  • Understanding OCD

  • How OCD might affect the individual and others around them
