The Foundation Certificate in Accounting will provide you with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. You will study key skills such as communication, IT, and understanding the business environment, which are essential for success in the finance sector. This course will help you develop the knowledge and skills for roles such as Bookkeeper or Finance Assistant. After completing this course, you will be well-prepared for further study or career advancement in accounting and finance.
Course Content
This qualification covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in four mandatory units:
Introduction to Bookkeeping
Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
Principles of Costing
The Business Environment
The purpose of this qualification is to ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a career in business, finance or professional accountancy, or into further education.
All of the units within the qualification are mandatory, each assessed individually with an end-of-unit computerised exam.
A student completing this qualification will develop accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will learn the impact that the digital environment has on organisations, from sole traders to large companies operating in local, national and global markets and will develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace.
