This workshop will provide a complete beginner’s introduction to cyber security and how to stay safe online.

This workshop is ideal for those who wish to increase their knowledge of cyber security for both at work and at home usage.

Upon completion of this course, students will have a basic knowledge of cyber security issues and the best precautions to take.

• The types of attack common today
• Simple email checks and how to carry them out
• What to look for to spot complex phishing attempts
• Steps to take to protect personal or business information
• How social media can be used to trick you
• How to tell if your email and password information has been exposed and how
• What to do to prevent data loss

This course can be delivered remotely or in a classroom environment, to suit your requirements.

To attend remotely, you will require the following equipment:

• PC or laptop with a microphone and speakers (webcam is preferred but not essential)
• Access to the internet and web browser application (e.g. Google Chrome).
• An email account for file sharing

During the course, students will be required to demonstrate the skills they have learnt by delivering a number of short coaching and training sessions. In preparation for this, they must consider the subject areas of the sessions they will deliver before attending this course (our tutor can support this).
