Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will understand food hygiene, food poisoning, food safety responsibilities, illnesses and contamination. They will also be aware of the protective clothing and equipment that is necessary when preparing food.

- Legislation around food safety and food preparation
- The procedures that can be used to demonstrate good practice when preparing food, to ensure high levels of food safety are achieved
- The principles of food contamination and prevention techniques
- The symptoms of food poisoning
- Restrictions for handling food after an illness
- The importance of time and temperature when preparing food
